My First Garbage Enzyme

Although predominantly this is a food blog, I would like to share with my readers a very useful information in keeping our world a greener place. A friend had shared with me the benefits of Garbage Enzyme recently. After much research, I decided that I would very much like to play my part in keeping our environment greener and a better place for the future, our children and the rest of the world.

My First Garbage Enzyme, and I'm Proud of It!

Garbage Enzyme is the solution to recover the ozone layer that is depleting. It also helps in lowering the global temperature. This method of healing the earth was researched, developed and encouraged by Dr Rosukon from Thailand.

You can read more about Garbage Enzyme and it's many uses from here.

If you would like to be take part of this healing process, try making Garbage Enzyme right from your very own kitchen with the natural products you use.

The ingredients for making Garbage Enzyme are:
Brown/Molasses/Jaggery Sugar 1 part
Water 10 parts
Dilute this two in the container

Vegetable or Fruit Dregs 3 parts
If you have not saved enough of the veg/fruit dregs, you may slowly add it till it reaches the 3 parts needed. When that is done, close the lid and the date for 3 months of fermentation starts on the day the lid is closed.

Since it is still Chinese New Year, start collecting the mandarin oranges' peels, pomelo skins, and all the vegetable skin that you have peeled before cooking in a container or bag. Or you can weigh it and add it to your container that has 10 parts of sugar solution in it. Remember to weigh your dregs so that you reach the right weight for that 10 parts of sugar solution.

Once you have these ingredients in your kitchen, you can start making your Garbage Enzyme. Use a large airtight container and the total ingredients should only take up 80% of the container. Leave the 20% as space for fermentation and gas build up. Whatever amount of Vegetable/Fruit Dregs you use, weigh it and follow the ration of 10 parts water, 3 parts dres, 1 part sugar.

You will need to release the gas every few days/weekly for the first month. Then close the lid back tightly. The enzyme is ready for use after 3 months.

Measure Brown Sugar

Dregs and Brown Sugar

Dilute Sugar Solution and Add Dregs on top

Using a chopstick, I pushed the Dregs to submerge them fully into the sugar solution

Once the dregs are fully submerged, close the lid. *Peace*

Label the end date for 3 months
